South West, UK

Brand identity for South West businesses.

A strong brand identity is the difference between being noticed and being ignored. I design identity systems that work across every touchpoint — from a business card to a billboard, a van wrap to a website — for businesses across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset, Bristol, and beyond.

My approach is straightforward: understand what the business needs to communicate, design a system that does it clearly, and deliver files that are ready to use. No fluff, no filler, no logo-in-a-day shortcuts. Every identity is built from the strategy up, and every decision has a reason behind it.

Why Brand Identity Matters

Design that does a job.

A brand identity is not decoration. It is the system that communicates what the business is before anyone reads a word. It tells a customer whether to trust you, whether to pay attention, whether to spend money. Done properly, it works in the background every day the business is trading.

Most businesses in the South West operate in competitive markets — hospitality in Torquay and Exeter, trades across Devon and Cornwall, product brands from Bristol to Bournemouth. The ones that win long-term are almost always the ones whose visual identity actually fits what they do. That is what I build.

What's Included

A brand identity that works

Logo System

Primary mark plus variants for every application — horizontal, stacked, icon-only, monochrome, reversed. Not a single logo: a system designed to work wherever the brand shows up.

Colour & Typography

A defined palette and type system with proper specification. Web-safe fallbacks, print-ready values, and usage rules that prevent the brand drifting over time.

Brand Guidelines

A reference document covering logo usage, spacing, colour codes, type hierarchy, image treatment, and application rules. The manual that keeps your brand consistent whoever is using it.

Print Collateral

Business cards, letterheads, compliments slips, signage specs, menus, vehicle livery — every piece the business needs to operate from day one, designed as part of the system.

Digital Assets

Social media templates, email signatures, website UI direction, profile images, favicons, and launch graphics. Sized and optimised for every platform it will appear on.

Final File Pack

Every asset in every format your suppliers need: AI, EPS, SVG, PNG, PDF. Print-ready with proper colour modes, screen-ready with transparent backgrounds. Yours to keep.

Process

How a brand project runs

Every project follows the same four-stage process. Timelines vary. The approach does not.

01

Discovery

Understanding the business, the audience, and what the brand needs to achieve. What sets you apart, who you need to reach, and what the design has to do when it leaves my hands.

02

Strategy

Before any visual work, I establish what the brand needs to communicate and to whom. That foundation shapes every decision after it — no arbitrary choices, no guessing.

03

Design

Concept development, refinement, and presentation. Multiple directions where needed, clear rationale for each. Honest feedback welcomed. Revisions built into the quote.

04

Deliver

Final files in every format, brand guidelines where relevant, and support through rollout. The handover is complete when you have everything needed to move forward without me.

Brand identity work spans sectors. The common thread is the need for design that communicates clearly and holds up over time. The industry matters less than the commitment to quality.

Questions

Common questions

What actually makes a brand identity different from just a logo?

A logo is one piece of the puzzle. A brand identity is the whole system — logo variants, colour palette, typography, imagery style, tone of voice, and the rules that hold everything together. A good identity still looks right five years later, on every surface, through every touchpoint. A logo alone cannot do that.

How long does a brand identity project take?

Typically four to eight weeks from brief to final files, depending on scope. A standalone logo can move faster. A full system with print collateral, digital assets, and written guidelines takes longer. Whatever the timeline, I will not rush a decision that has to last the life of the business.

Do I need a rebrand or just a refresh?

A refresh keeps the brand’s core equity and updates what needs updating — typography, colour, logo refinement. A rebrand starts from a clearer strategic position and redesigns the system. Which one is right depends on what your customers recognise, what still works, and what is holding the business back. We can work that out on an introductory call.

Can you work with businesses outside the South West?

Yes. Most of my clients are outside the region — across the UK, US, and Europe. The location of the studio matters less than the quality of the communication and the work. Remote collaboration is the default.

Will I own the design outright?

Yes. Once the project is paid in full, all final files are yours to keep and use without restriction. You get source files, print-ready exports, and web-ready versions — everything needed to maintain the brand independently.

What happens if I need updates later?

Ongoing support is available on a project or retainer basis. Many clients come back for seasonal campaigns, new product launches, or brand extensions. The original design system is built to flex, so extensions feel like part of the same family rather than bolt-ons.
