The Legal Bit

Privacy notice.

Short version: I only use the details you send me to reply to your enquiry and talk about your project. I don’t sell them, I don’t add you to any list, and the site sets no tracking cookies. The full detail is below.

Who’s responsible for your data

This site is run by Jon Heavens, trading as Jon Heavens Design, a graphic designer based in Devon, UK. I’m the data controller for anything you send me. Questions or requests about your data go to hello@jonheavens.com.

What I collect, and when

When you fill in the contact form I receive the details you type into it: your name, email address, the service and budget you select, and the brief you write. That’s it — there are no hidden fields and nothing is collected unless you choose to send the form.

Like any website, my hosting provider also processes standard technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to serve pages and keep the site secure. I don’t use that to identify or profile you.

Why I’m allowed to use it

I use your details on the lawful basis of legitimate interests and, where relevant, to take steps at your request before entering a contract — in plain terms, so I can read your brief, reply, and quote for the work. I won’t use your details for marketing unless you separately ask me to.

Who else sees it

Your enquiry is handled by two service providers acting on my behalf: Vercel, which hosts the website, and Resend, which delivers the contact-form email to my inbox. Both process the data only to provide their service. I don’t sell your data or share it with anyone else.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies, which is why you won’t see a cookie banner. I use Vercel’s privacy-friendly analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular — it’s aggregate and cookieless, and doesn’t build a profile of you or follow you around the web.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiry emails only for as long as I need them — to reply, to run a project if we work together, and for a reasonable period afterwards for my records. Once there’s no longer a reason to keep your details, they’re deleted.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask me to show you the data I hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Just email hello@jonheavens.com and I’ll sort it. If you’re ever unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, you can complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this notice

If I change how any of this works, I’ll update this page. It was last updated on 9 July 2026.
