Torquay, UK
Graphic designer for Torquay venues.
I’m Jon Heavens, a Devon-based graphic designer with over 15 years of experience working with Torquay venues across the harbour, Babbacombe, Torre, Wellswood, and the wider English Riviera. Most of the work is hospitality — brand identity, menu suites, signage, web, and the launch print pack a venue needs to actually open the doors.
Torquay’s commercial centre lives or dies on its hospitality. Bay-front restaurants, harbour bars, activity venues, and Babbacombe coffee stops all compete for the same visiting weekend. The venues that hold attention have one thing in common: a visual identity that does the convincing before the menu lands on the table. That is the work I do.

Who I Work With in Torquay
Torquay is a hospitality town first. Restaurants, bars, hotels, and activity venues across the bay drive most of the commercial mix, with retail, leisure, and tourism services orbiting around them. The work I do here reflects that: heavy on brand identity, menu design, signage, and the launch print pack — plus the digital systems venues need to take bookings and run social.
Restaurants & Pizza Kitchens
Full brand identity, menu suites, takeaway packaging, and signage for sit-down restaurants, pizza kitchens, and casual diners across the bay. Menus that lift average spend and signage that pulls foot traffic.
Otto Torquay · Hanlees · independent restaurants
Activity Venues & Entertainment
Brand systems for activity venues, leisure attractions, and entertainment-led hospitality — axe throwing, interactive darts, street golf, escape rooms. Identity work that walks the line between premium and approachable.
Viva Torquay · activity venue branding
Bars & Cocktail Venues
Brand identity, drinks menus, cocktail flash cards, and event print for harbour bars and cocktail venues across Torbay. Print that earns its place on a busy table without overshadowing the drink.
Park Lane (JAM Leisure cocktail cards) · cocktail print suites
Cafes & Coffee Shops
Cafes from Babbacombe to Cockington needing identity, menus, takeaway cups, and shopfront signage that holds up across seasons and weather.
Hanlees Cafe & Deli · independent cafe branding
Tourism & Attractions
Visitor-facing tourism businesses across Torbay needing print collateral, wayfinding, brochures, and on-brand digital. Visual systems built for tourist-season throughput.
Riviera attractions · seasonal venue branding
Retail, Trades & Services
Retail, trade businesses, and service providers across Torquay and Paignton needing professional identity, vehicle livery, and operational print. The brand work that makes a small business look like the bigger version of itself.
Empire Exterior · independent retailers

Questions
Frequently asked
Are you based in Torquay?
I’m based in Devon and work with Torquay venues regularly, including on-site meetings around the harbour, Babbacombe, and Torre when a project benefits from it. Most project communication runs by email, video call, and shared files — the working pattern is the same whether the venue is on the bay or in another city.
Do you specialise in hospitality design?
A large share of my Torquay and South West work is hospitality — restaurants, bars, cafes, and activity venues. That said, the discipline carries across sectors. The same approach to brand identity that opens a Torre cocktail bar will land an Exeter consultancy or a Plymouth marine business.
Can you handle a full venue launch — brand, menus, signage, and web?
Yes — that is the most common shape of a hospitality project here. Brand identity first, then the launch print pack (menus, table talkers, business cards, vouchers), signage spec for fit-out, social templates, and a website with booking flow built in. Delivered ready for the supplier list you already have, or supplier-coordinated end-to-end if you want me to manage that side too.
How much does a hospitality brand cost?
Quoted per project after a proper brief. A standalone menu redesign sits in one range, a full brand-identity-plus-launch-pack sits in another, and an ongoing retainer for seasonal updates is different again. No templates, no fixed packages, no surprise fees.
How long does a venue brand take to deliver?
Most full venue brand projects run six to twelve weeks from brief to launch-ready files. Tighter scopes — menu refreshes, signage updates, a single print piece — can run in two to four weeks. Launch dates work backwards from the brief if you have an opening day pinned.
What files do I receive at the end of a project?
Every asset in every format you need — AI, EPS, SVG, PDF, PNG — plus brand guidelines where applicable. Print-ready for sign-makers and printers, web-ready for the booking platform, social-ready for launch posts. You own the files outright.
